Shawn Schaefer joined the Ontario Blue Jays in the Summer of 2020 making the move from Pitt Meadows, BC to the Greater Toronto Area.
Prior to join OBJ, Shawn spent eight years with Baseball British Columbia serving as their Grassroots Coordinator and High Performance General Manager/Camp Coordinator. He helped facilitate endless events for youth baseball players of all levels across the province including Rally Cap, Grand Slam, My First Pitch, Challenger and more. With the High Performance Program, he oversaw the selection and development for all BC High Performance events. In addition to his time with Baseball BC, Shawn is a NCCP Coach Developer as a Facilitator and Evaluator working with coaches across Canada.
Prior to devoting his time to coaching, Shawn has played extensively as both a Left-Handed Pitcher and Outfielder. After graduating Pitt Meadows Secondary and the Coquitlam Reds (BCPBL), he accepted a scholarship at Midland Junior College (Midland, TX) in 2004. At Midland, he was named to the Region IX Sophomore Showcase before transferring back to the University of British Columbia from 2005-2007, he was named Region 1, NAIA First-Team All Conference and NAIA Second-Team All-American Pitcher. Schaefer finished his collegiate career at Cumberland University, where he received many accolades but most notable, won the NAIA National Championship in 2010. After finishing his playing career, Shawn served as a Graduate Assistant at Cumberland for one season.
