Mercado commits to Connors State

The Ontario Blue Jays are excited to announce that IF/P Nelson Mercado (Brampton, ON) has committed to further his academic and baseball career at the Connors State College (NJCAA - Warner, OK) for the Fall of 2021.  Mercado joined the Ontario Blue Jays as a 16 year old after a very impressive OBA career including a Bantam National Championship.  Nelson will continue to lead OBJ teams as he approaches his graduation from St. Augustine Catholic Secondary School.

Mercado is joining a perennial junior college powerhouse in the Connors State Cowboys.  Over the past decade the Cowboys have been Nationally Ranked as high as #1 (on numerous occasions) in the NJCAA including a trip to the NJCAA College World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado.  Nelson will jump right into the mix with the Cowboys as a difference maker both on the mound and in the field as he will pursue both options at the collegiate level. 

Mercado joins a long list of Ontario Blue Jays to attend Connors State College and play for Hall of Fame Coach, Perry Keith.
